Of course I have a couple questions about that, too.
Where the road joined the highway from Lilongwe some 30km from Kasungu, was that marker “B” on the map? The motel 25km south of Jenda, was that marker “D”, by any chance?
When you write “once we reach Chipata”, you meant Chitipa (marker “I”), right?

What great stories and commentary! I realized, Tim, when Justin showed up here in Boston last week from Costa Rica (short break — he goes back May 29 for the summer) that I hadn’t looked in on you since South Africa (I had a lot of homework, I guess). So now I am catching up and enjoying it immensely. Reading other people’s comments, I also realized I had missed Edda’s birthday — also, hGzG Edda and aG Tim (herzliche Glueckwuensch zum Gerburtstag and alles Gute).
